Privacy Policy
Effective July 13, 2026
Overview
This Privacy Policy describes how the Proof app ("the app", "we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects your information. By using the app, you agree to the practices described below.
Proof exists to show you evidence about your own drinking. That data is yours. We do not sell personal information, we do not show ads, and we do not share your drinking data with advertisers or data brokers.
Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Onboarding profile: your typical drinking baseline, drink preferences, goals, and your answers to the three safety screening questions.
- Drink logs: the drinks you record, when you record them, and your morning confirmations.
- Plan data: your weekly step-down plan and how it adjusts over time.
Information collected automatically
- Account identifier: the app creates an anonymous account for you by default. If you choose to sign in with Apple, we also receive the identifier (and, if you share it, the email address) Apple provides.
- Usage and device data: screens viewed, features used, device model, OS version, and app version, collected via Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used and improve it.
- Purchase state: your subscription and trial status. We never see your payment details — payment is handled entirely by Apple.
How We Use Your Information
- Provide the service: store your logs, compute your plan and your evidence ledger, and sync them across your devices.
- Improve the app: analyze aggregated, anonymized usage patterns to prioritize features and fix issues.
- Manage subscriptions: verify your entitlement and trial status.
Your drinking data is never used for advertising and is never shared with third parties for their own purposes.
Third-Party Services
The app relies on the following service providers, each governed by their own privacy policy:
- Firebase (Google): authentication, cloud database, and analytics. Your data is stored on Google Cloud infrastructure. Firebase Privacy Policy
- RevenueCat: subscription management and entitlement verification. RevenueCat Privacy Policy
- Apple: payment processing for subscriptions and optional Sign in with Apple.
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored in Firebase Cloud Firestore with encryption at rest and in transit. Access is restricted by Firebase Authentication and Firestore Security Rules so that only your authenticated account can read or write your data.
While we implement industry-standard security measures, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Data Retention and Deletion
Your data is retained for as long as your account exists. You can delete all your data at any time from Settings › Delete all data inside the app; deletion is immediate and permanent in our active database. Backup snapshots retained by our infrastructure provider for disaster recovery may persist for up to 30 days before being overwritten.
If you no longer have access to the app (for example, you uninstalled it), email support@withproof.app and we will process your deletion request within 30 days.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Withdraw consent for data processing
To exercise any of these rights, contact support@withproof.app.
Children's Privacy
The app is intended for adults and is not directed at anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we become aware that we have collected data from a user under 18, we will delete it promptly.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
